The client, Matt Candeais, is drawn to things of texture. Being a botanist, he is constantly surrounded by the patterns and textures of trees, flowers, and animals in nature.

This secondary residence derives inspiration from the client’s interests and the property’s natural surroundings on a private peninsula. The design strives to inspire creativity and develop a sense of relaxation as a home-away-from-home. By saturating the space with physical and visual textures based upon natural concepts, a stimulating space is created using form and material that reflects the owner’s passion. The goal is for Matt to be inspired by living and working among these textured surroundings.
